Two Purple Cows and a Beautiful Weekend

This weekend was so nice and sunny (at least in Bernal it was) - sorry Sunset district. This photo was taken from the staircase across from my flat.

Most of the day Saturday was consumed with cleaning out the storage in the basement and gathering items for a garage sale we are going to have with friends in Sacramento next month.

I found a lot of stuff I had not seen in a long time. It was sort of fun. I wish I could have spent more time down there - there is no light so I have to wear a headlamp and since I have bad allergies, I have to wear a mask as well. As you can imagine, my getup was pretty impressive. I don't know how Tim kept his hands off of me. I have a nice pile of things to sell going in my hallway now and I am excited to unearth more as I clean my place out in search of things to get rid of.

Sunday morning I got up and made waffles - I wrote my own recipe and I have to say, they were pretty darn good. The recipe made 6 so I have two in the freezer for another day - I think we may heat them up and make hot fudge sundaes over them later this week - yummm! I took my time easing into the day which was a nice change as apposed to getting out the door like a shot gun as I do during the week. I went to Debbie's house in the afternoon to hang out and craft while we watched a movie - my favorite afternoon of them all. So, we watched Chicken Run and I worked on embroidery while Debbie knit. It was nice to get out of the city for a break and hang out in an actual house without loud neighbors upstairs walking around in their loud shoes (big problem, growing bigger each day). At about 5:30 I headed back to the city and was craving pesto so I made a pasta dish with orecchiette pasta, pesto, artichoke hearts, asparagus and sweet peas topped with toasted pine nuts and freshly grated Parmesan. For dessert, a blast from the past....Purple Cows! Tim had never had one, so I had to make them.
All in all, it was a very nice weekend. Got a lot of stuff done that I have been thinking about for a while, which was nice.
Have a great week!
I will try to update more often this week.

Friday at last!

Phew, yes it is Friday and I am so happy. I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow morning!
It has been a nice busy week that has completely flown by.
I had something going on each night with the exception of Monday.
Here is a little run down:
Tuesday - met K. for dinner at Cafe Gratitude. It was so nice to catch up and have a nice wholesome meal, I think most of you know from past posts how much I love that place.
Wednesday - went to dinner after work with Tim and then to the ballet! We went and saw a tribute to Jerome Robbins - who I actually took class from when I was a teen. He was not the nicest man in the world, but he was a creative genius! This is what we saw:
Fancy Free
Composer: Leonard Bernstein
Choreography: Jerome Robbins

In the Night
Composer: Frédéric Chopin
Choreography: Jerome Robbins

West Side Story Suite—NEW!San Francisco Ballet Premiere
Composer: Leonard Bernstein
Choreography: Jerome Robbins
It was a great night! Tim really likes West Side Story so I thought he would enjoy it and he did. It was really cool to see one of the best ballet companies in the world (in my opinion) sing, dance and act - yes, some of them sang. It is hard to be a triple threat, singer, dancer and actor and they did a wonderful job. I applaud the members of the company who sang, because dance sometimes can be very in your head, they don't have to speak and all is expressed through movement which is awesome but to get them to sing as well - BRAVO! It was an incredible night. I love ballet so much and just get lost in the entire thing when I go and see it. It carries me to another place - such a nice midweek escape.
Thursday night I worked at the CG. We worked on image transfers. We are trying to create a new class there, it was super fun and frustrating at the same time trying to get some of the techniques to work.
Today, after work, I am meeting some old co-workers of mine for a beer and a bite before the weekend starts.
Tomorrow, sleep in, I can't wait to sink into my pillow tonight and just give in sweet sleep. I have ballet from 3-5 so I can't sleep in too long - I need to get up and move around a little before class or I will be totally screwed.
Today is Good Friday - I wish I was in Malta...here is a glimpse at a Good Friday procession there today.

Harry is Complete!

I attached his little bead eyes Tuesday at lunch.
Now, for his blog debut....
So cute, I have him on my desk next to my pink hedgehog paperclip holder!

Bye-Bye Weekend

Sunday night is here already - it snuck up way too fast as usual.
Here is a little recap...
Friday night we just stayed home and took it easy, which was nice since I had a busy week. I had to work on Thursday night and did a freelance project for a friend of mine (which was awesome). I am trying to put myself out there a little more and get some side work, which I hope comes in as it did last week.
Saturday, I slept in until 9:30 (sweet) and then got some stuff done around the house before going to ballet.
Ballet class on Saturday was great and challenging. Now that everything from my past has come back into my memory, it is all about fine tuning things, which can be a bit frustrating. We did a lot of jumping at the end of class, which was fun and exhilarating - I made it through an entire jump combination in center without getting winded. We are getting ready for turns, etc. This month is going to be pretty cool since I have ballet every Saturday instead of every other like it has been. I think next month I am going to start other classes during the week in addition to the weekend class. I am so grateful for Jadin, taking the time to refresh my memory and help get me back into something I love so much. It feeds my soul like no other type of exercise. I love yoga, but it does not feed me and it is not as active as ballet (or creative).
Today, I slept until about 11:30, which was awesome. Tim played tennis this morning, so it was nice and quiet in the house. Our place is so tiny that when one person is up, it is hard to sleep because you can hear every little thing. When Tim got home, he made some great salads for lunch, I did some laundry and we just hung out. It was so nice to take it easy this weekend, I have a busy week, I have something going on every night except for tomorrow. The week should go by pretty quickly I think.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Needle Felting Progress

Needle felting continued at lunch today. I broke 2 needles though - note to self, next time don't make the body so dense, I think that is why the needles broke inside of Harry the Hedgehog. I need to sew the eyes on him tomorrow or Saturday and he will be all set.
Check him out...

Needle Felting!

Wendy bought me a fun needle felting kit, which helps me to knock one more thing off of my 101/1001 list (Learn a New Craft). So today on our lunch break, we learned to felt.
This is the kit she bought me (above) and below are some photos of my progress.
Progress will continue as lunch breaks allow. I will keep you all updated, but so far, I love the felting!

Sunny Saturday in the City

Saturday, me, Angela, Robin and Wendy all met for lunch and drinks in the Mission. Our original plan fell through so we went to Medjool and sat on the roof and ate and drank for a couple hours. The weather could not have been better. Seriously, I got some sun for the second time this week, what was fantastic. At the tail end of lunch, the boys (Kenny and Tim) joined us. Afterwards we went back to my hood and had dessert. What a lovely day I got to have with my ladies (and boys).

Guilty Pleasure

OK, so I have a guilty pleasure, actually a couple.
  1. America's Next Top Model
  2. The Hills

So, I am happy to report, to any other Hills watchers, that the continuation of Season 3 starts on March 24th and it looks juicy.

To all the naysayers, come on, you know you have a little reality TV favorite and if you don't..."your fired!"

Wanna Help?

As most of you know, Tim and I are in the adoption process. We are waiting for our referral and then will get approved to travel and go and pick up our baby from Vietnam.
We are trying to raise travel money at this point and could use your help.
If you are a magazine reader, renewing or subscribing to your favorite magazine from the following link would help us meet our goal. You can also send magazines as gifts!

Thank you so much, we appreciate all of you so much!
